JVC demonstrates new UHD/4K monitors at IBC

JVC demonstrates a number of new UHD/4K studio and production monitors at IBC, to meet the growing demand for affordable 4K monitoring solutions in production and broadcast environments.

The DT-U31 is a 31-inch UHD model, while the DT-U31Pro is a 31-inch model featuring full 4K native resolution. Both models feature 10-bit panels and 14-bit colour processing to ensure high quality image processing and display.

Both models support both 12G SDI or quad 3G HD-SDI input, along with HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2 for 4K input support. Thanks to their high resolution and four separate HD-SDI inputs, the DT-U Series monitors can also be used as quad-split displays, ideal for broadcast monitoring applications.

The DT-U31 and DT-U31Pro monitors both support HDR functions, including Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) and PQ-3 formats. Also supported is a range of camera log LUTs, including S-Log, C-Log and JVC's J-Log.

Colour gamut support includes BT709 and BT2020, with automatic calibration possible via using an optional USB sensor which is connected directly to the monitor. Also supported is both waveform monitor and vectorscope, together with 16-channel audio metering.

The two new DT-U models also support an expansion slot for which a number of feature options are planned, including a fibre to SFP adapter.

Also shown at the JVC booth at IBC will be a technology demonstration of a high nit brightness model, utilising a 28" UHD display, for HDR applications where higher brightness image display is required.

The DT-U31 model is expected to be available by October 2018 with the DT-U31 Pro following by the end of 2018.

The new DT-U 4K range adds to JVC's recently introduced new DT-G Series of mid-range HD production monitors. With four models available, ranging from 17" to 27", the monitors deliver excellent quality HD images, thanks to their high-quality 8-bit IPS panels and 10-bit signal processing.

In addition, DT-G series monitors feature the ability to take a 4K input source via HDMI, supporting up to 4K60p signals, which are then downsampled to full HD for display, meaning that they are very useful for futureproofing in broadcast environments where 4K signal handling is becoming increasingly required. Also unique within the DT-G range is a "zero latency" mode which offers a near-zero delay from input to screen, which can be of critical importance in a wide range of live event environments.

The new monitor line-up adds to JVC Professional's range of production solutions, including ENG and cine-style camcorders, studio cameras and recording devices.
